Dwayne D. Spencer 72, of Oreana, IL passed away at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday January 25, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard.  Family and friends who wish to join in procession may meet at 10 a.m. at Dawson & Wikoff North Funeral Home, 4020 N. Water Street, Decatur on Wednesday morning.  Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care specialist of Central Illinois Charitable Fund.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Dwayne was born January 31, 1939 in Cisco, IL the son of Darrel and Irene (Konradi) Spencer.  He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He married Carolyn Wright on Oct. 21, 1961.  He retired after thirty four years of service from the Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Company. 

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Bement American Legion.  He enjoyed woodworking and clock making.  He also had a passion for boating and traveling.

 

Surviving is his wife Carolyn of Oreana, IL; son: Stephen Spencer and his wife Julie of Decatur; daughter: Cheryl Tadlock of Bethany; grandsons: Tyler and Clayton Tadlock of Bethany; step grandsons: Stephen Rosborough of St. Louis, MO and Jason Rosborough of Decatur.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Velasco and staff, DMH Hospice, especially Diane and Angie and the staff of 5100 at DMH for all their care and compassion.
